My name is Sleepyheadphone, I’m an artist, I usually draw in comic- or manga-style. I use this blog for scribbles, finished works, everyday life stuff, music recommendations and lame jokes, So have fun!

A little sketch of Silver, I was dreaming about werewolves one night and on the spur of the moment I made a few little corrections in Silvers design. His wolf form is more wolfish now, the fur is longer and it’s all in all a bit less human. He’s just lacking arms and looks like a total creep :D
Dunno if I will keep the design this way. It’s just a nice fresh new idea and I like it somehow. Still it has to be revised.

Hey there, it’s me again!

Although I was always there, secretly stalking everyone, I wasn’t that active lately on Tumblr, on DevArt, on everything. And it’s not gonna get better in the next two weeks because I’m entering my exam-phase and it’s gonna be hell :D Not that I need to study that much …. it’s just quite a lot I have to do anyways and then the exams, some birthdays, commissions … that’ll keep me pretty busy.

But there is hope! It’s there. Finally.

New Passion Pit! I have been waiting so awfully long for this *floodingtearsofjoy* And it’s good! They actually have done better (I personally believe that nothing can ever top “Sleepyhead”, but of course there’s still the hope) but it’s still a fun lil stomper. And there is no way I’ll ever say no to a Passion Pit song.

Still the new uplifting Passion Pit song is not the only thing that’s making things easier round here. It’s also pretty sunny! And sun makes everything better. The springtime is really good for me. During that long winter I had almost forgotten what a great impact sunlight has on me. It’s like everytime I look outside I start to feel fresh and happy again. But also quite dreamy. It’s just …. the sun is shining outside and the sky is blue and everything looks so beautiful but I have to study. That’s harsh.

However, when I was taking about hope a few lines ago, that was not totally abstract. I also managed to do 3 sketches yesterday, and I think I might finish one or two of them soon. But even if I don’t, it’s good to know that I still can do something haha.

That was just a short update to tell you what’s up lately. If it interests you. I hope you are all well, I hope I can find more time for pictures soon.
Yours truly,
shp

Seriously, it’s not even funny anymore.

OK, I lied. It is.

I’ve been posting several bunchs of great artwork now, but for some reason I’ve been missing this one: The amazing graffiti colour explosion happening on the covers related to Coldplays latest, Mylo Xyloto. I think it’s just beautifull. In a time, when it seems like noone tries to make nice covers anymore, this is like a light in the dark. Or, as Coldplay themselves would put it: “A spark in a sea of grey”. Word.

Because this is pretty much my Everything-Blog, I figured I might aswell post some of my (not very special) photography. As you can probably see: I am in no way an expert, and I don’t want to do photography proffessional. It’s just some of my shots I consider nice.
Most of those photos are of nature, most commonly sky phenomena, like sunsets. I always find those stunningly beautifull. Nature has the best colours.

First it was just some little doodle and I fooled around, but I created a first little layout of some new OCs for a new project I’m working on. It exists since some years, but I got working on it just some weeks ago. The fox is still too serious (I’m not that much into furries yet, I have to practise) and the rabbit looks a bit too kind, but it’s a glimpse of what’s coming :)

So Easter is over and I have some things to write about again! First of all I want to tell you about some things I fell in love with over the course of the last weeks. Let’s have some recommendations!

BOOKS: D.Gray-Man

This manga. Not one of the very latest, but I discovered it just some time ago. But it was not until now I totally got into it. It’s not only a huuuuge inspiration for Versus, but also an amazingly creative story (that’s pretty fucked up, too by the way) with much much material damage, mixing up Horror, Action, Fantasy and Comedy. And the reason this is so good: The characters are absolutely gorgeous. They make the story not only vivid but also quite likable although it’s a slightly apocalyptic end time story. And that requires quite some craft …

ART: Jam

Not the thing you put on your bread for breakfast, but an artist on DeviantArt. After comment-raping his whole gallery because it is filled with too much awesome, he even started replying and watching me and commenting on my sorry pictures. Yes, indeed. He even is nice. Seriously, I don’t know how to resist this guy.

MUSIC: Jenny Owen Youngs

Heartbroken girls and boys from everywhere, I have the perfect cure for you. Well, maybe not the cure but actually something that’s worth quite a lot: Some solace. I’ve known Jenny since her debut “Batten the Hatches”, so I didn’t really got to love her the past weeks but way before, but I have her mentioned here because you can’t seem to mention her enough and because her 3rd album, “An Unwavering Band of Light” dropped some weeks ago. And I’m pretty much in love with that one. It’s defenitely Jennys most energetic album so far.

What makes Jenny so great is the ways she instantly feels like a good friend when you turn on her songs. They’re simply touching, especially in the silent moments. They’re the thing you want to have when you’re heartbroken and lying on your bed and cuddling with something that’s not your friend. Because Jenny can sing about (failed) love like nobody else can. Which is also true for the more upbeat songs. Because she doesn’t only sing about hearbreak. Her upbeat songs have something to them that makes you pretty happy, not always being hopefull but in some ways happy go lucky. Like a good friend that says: “Come on, let’s have fun anyways!”

You can check out the streaming of “An Unwavering Band of Light” right here. It’s worth it, trust me. First 4 songs are absolutely stunning and the rest is just nearly as great. So get listening!

OK, that was my recommendation tirade for now. Easter holidays are slowly getting to and end and school is coming again. I must admit, I didn’t do as much Artwork as I wanted to do but I really spent some time relaxing and doing nothing, which was ver refreshing. When school starts, I probably will spent some time on improving again, there may be some doodles ;)

Another thing: As it’s getting warmer and sunnier day by day, my Spring Mixtape get’s closer and closer to be finished. It’s not named yet, but I have a song base of around 10 songs that are absolutely amazing. I’m exited for it already! (although it’s April now ->Winter strikes again)

I think that’s that for now. As I said, school starts again so the next time will be quieter again. But since I wrote a research paper and every kind of homework feels just plain easy after doing something like that, there may even be some time to complete some things. There are some presents though and I won’t be posting them here, because they’re presents and therefore shall be private.

I wish you all the best! Have a nice time and enjoy the sun!

Reblogging it for the sake of everything. Love a-capellar.It should actually have stopped with some a-capellar hardcore breakbeat or something, that would’ve been hillarious. But it’s hillarious nevertheless, so … yeah.

A new piece with a cat that’s spilling coffee while overflowing with dancey style. Seriously, what am I even doing? Well, I have easter holidays so I finally have time to do some things, I’ve already finished some commissions and now I’m doing all these pictures I have been meaning to do for ages.
It was astonishingly fun to make, although it also was pretty challenging. I’ve never done things like this coffee-stain-background (which is done with real coffee by the way) or a drawing in a specific style (retro in this case) before. So all in all this is a bit progressive, at least for my standarts.
While looking at it and enjoying the tail or the coffee-vibe you should listen to Catgroove by Parov Stelar. You might know this, if not for the song, then for the dancing. It’s pretty much one of my favourite songs lately …

(“Catgroove” by Parov Stelar)
So, after missing the Cat Invasion on DevArt yesterday (because I didn’t contribute anything), I feel it’s kind of my duty to post this song …
Title alone would be reason enough to check it out, but I also love that kind of music in general, I think it’s called “Electro Swing” or something like that? Anyway, I don’t care how it’s called but rather how it sounds. And it sounds a lot like Goldfish. That means amazing. Overflowing with style and sexyness. I’d actually like to dance to this … if I could.
I don’t want to spoil anything, but double-“work in progress” to this one here … Be prepared.

When I said jokingly yesterday, that the picture of My Chemical Romance “would hopefully make me famous”, I didn’t expect things like this to happen:

People really seem to like this picture. Glad you like it people!

A wallpaper I made for my brother, who is a (big) fan of My Chemical Romance. This will be hanging on his wall … soon … in DinA1!!!

I must admit that my brother got me to like them too … I alwas thought they were kinda boring and cliché but that’s not true! There’s a lot more going on here than I first though there is. Their style is cool and their ability to reinvent themselves is great … especially that step out of the darkness/emo area was a good idea, I love it when bands mess with fans ^^ And most certainly: Gerald Way is an amazing lead singer! So charismatic … Well I have been owning their album The Black Parade for some time because I got a copy from a relative but I never really got into it though the concept really interested me. Now after liking Danger Days I might revisit it again.

Plus there are many Fans of MCR around …. hopefully this picture will make me famous (haha)

OK, OK, I’ll stop talking about bands now … Artisticly this way a rather hard nut to crack (at all so I went for the style the band themselves also used. I think that’s even better … well we’ll never know.

Although I usually am not into Black Music (I mean I’m no expert, I do like it), I feel like I have to recomment this mixtape by newcomer Spree Wilson. “The Soundtrack to your Summer!” claims his MySpace page. And that may be more accurate than it seems on first sight.

I discovered this young man through his track “Sharpshooter”, a downright sexy song (sexy is not the wrong word here, for Wilson himself descripes it as “my version of audio sex.”) that had the ability to get stuck in your head, not immidiately but very insistently. And because lines like “Girl your love is like a .45” always catch my attention, I decided to take a listen to his mixtape The Never Ending Now. And I really have to say: It is a delight.

The thing that makes Spree Wilson obviously special is his variety. He can rap, he can sing, he can play guitar, he has soul and he has flow. This is a thing you don’t have often, especially in one person. And his ability to write nice songs is the other thing, he puts one great song with a catchy hook after another, and creates a mix that’s not only varied but also a very pleasant listen. The tracks can stand on their own but also work pretty well put together.

All in all I really enjoyed this, it’s indeed the kind of thing I would enjoy as a soundtrack to my summer.
